Analysis Water Years
The Water Year Analysis feature can isolate specific years for comparison and analysis. This is useful for figuring out what a reasonable future projection might be given historical trends. If it is shaping up to be a dry year one might look at historical dry years to see what might be possible given historical observations and/or operations.
The options available for this analysis feature is shown below. An explanation of what each option does directly follows.
Time Window Options
- This allows you to isolate certain years out your dataset for comparison.
Additional Lines
- You may select to plot a 30-year average given your data.
Year Type
- This one is fairly self explanatory. You can either display your data in water years (Oct-Sep), calendar years (Jan-Dec), or a custom range of your choosing.
Using the water year analysis option on some daily data for Lake Mohave water surface elevation show the results below. The graph uses the 30 year average, the calendar year option, and the years 1982 and 2017. The raw data is shown on top and the resulting hydrograph is shown on the bottom.
