The Correlation Analysis features can quickly compare two datasets by plotting them 1:1 on a per-time-step basis . This is useful for figuring out whether two datasets are correlated given historical observations.
The options available for this analysis feature is shown below. An explanation of what each option does directly follows.
Time Window Options
- This option group is fairly self explanatory. You may select a time range filter for the data you want to include in your hydrograph. Selecting the period-of-record option will read all the data within your database for inclusion in the hydrograph.
Summary
- You may choose to summarize your data by performing aggregations on an annual time-step given these options. Note that this option will not do anything if your data is already at a yearly time-step.
- As an example, if you have daily data for reservoir release volumes, selecting sum from this option group will first calculate a total annual release volume before plotting the data.
Year Type & Range
- This one doesn't really do anything for this analysis type.
Using the correlation analysis option on some daily data for Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu release flow rates show the results below. The graph uses data from 01JAN1975 to 01SEP2017 and the default selections shown in the screenshot above. The raw data is shown on top and the resulting distribution function is shown on the bottom.
