Characterization

antonio-goncalves edited this page Mar 23, 2022 · 10 revisions

On IoT Catalogue components and validations are characterized by tags, each tag is defined by a name, a type and in some cases a tag could have a parent-child relation with another tags

This plugin makes this information avaialable by using the following tools available within Liferay

Tags

Enables the characterization of assets by associating an array of keywords with each asset, with this tool is only possible to associate the tag name with the asset, information regarding the tag type and its parent is discarded

Categories

Categories are similar in concept to tags, but they provide a more detailed characterization to assets, making a better usage of the tag system provided by IoT Catalgue

Regarding a tag obtained from IoT Catalogue each category is characterized by:

  • Name: Is the name of the tag
  • Parent category: Parent tag, this could be a recursive relation
  • Vocabulary: A group where the category is part, the vocabulary gets its name from the tag type on IoT Catalogue

Example

The following example shows a validation characterized by the "Categories" tool of liferay

Using the "Domain" line as an example

  • "Domain" corresponds to the vocabulary name, tag type on IoT Catalogue
  • "Vegetables" is the name of the category, tag name on IoT Catalogue
  • "Agriculture" is the name of the parent category, name of the parent tag on IoT Catalogue
