This is a new (or should I say "modern") rewrite of java-generator-functions
.
- Now you pass a
(Context) -> void
to theGenerator
constructor instead of overridingGenerator.run()
. - You can provide your own thread via
threadProvider
constructor parameter. This is mainly for testability, but you might find it useful. - By default,
Generator
uses a virtualThread
. - Supports
ctx.finish(T value)
for finishing iteration like Python'sreturn
or C#'syield break
. - Implements
AutoCloseable
instead of overridingfinalize
for finishingThread
s. - Supports
Generator.stream()
.
Since this package utilizes virtual Thread
s, you need to be using Java 21 or later.
I have no idea how Java threading and thus this works. Anything I can assure is that the test code passes if it does. I'm not sure if Generator
class is safe or performant. APIs are subject to change, PRs are welcome.
