This page will list all the main games and applications and how to start them and monitor them successfully. It will be the consolidated list of settings that people have found to work successfully.

Monitoring an alternative executable

DisplayMagician tries REALLY hard to figure out the game executable to monitor your games when they start, and it does a pretty good job. But sometimes the game launcher starts a game that in turn launches another main game executable. When this happens, DisplayMagician fails to detect that your game has exited when you close it.

But have no fear! This is exactly what the 'Monitor different executable' option is for. Simply click on the 'Choose' button, and select the actual executable that you really want to monitor. How do I find what the different executable is to monitor, I hear you ask. We'll you can do it like this:

  • Press 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' to show the menu
  • Click on 'Task Manager'
  • Task manager will load. Click on the 'Details' tab
  • Scroll through looking for a running process with a Description the same name as your game. Look at the memory size being used. A main game executable will typically use hundreds of MB of memory, or even GBs of memory when running.
  • Right-click on that running process, and select 'Open file location'
  • Windows Explorer will open, highlighting the very file you need to add into the 'Monitor different executable' option.
