This repository contains a Laravel-based API controller for managing student details, including viewing, adding, updating, and deleting student records. The StudentController
class interacts with the Student
model to perform CRUD operations. Below is a brief overview of each function in the controller:
- /student: Retrieves a list of all students and returns it as JSON.
- /student/show/{id}: Finds a student by their ID and returns the student data. If the ID does not exist, returns an error message.
- /student/del/{id}: Deletes a student by their ID. If the ID does not exist, returns an error message.
- /student: Adds a new student record to the database, using data provided in the request (name, NIC, course, and contact).
- /student/edit/{id}: Updates an existing student's details by their ID. If any fields are missing in the request, it keeps the existing values. Returns the updated data or an error if the ID is not found.
The API can be tested using tools like Postman, where endpoints can be accessed via standard HTTP methods:
GET
requests for viewing all students or by ID.POST
requests for adding new student records.PUT
requests for updating existing student records.DELETE
requests for removing student records by ID.
This controller offers a simple interface for managing student data, and it can be easily integrated with a frontend or other backend services for larger applications.

- Eloquent ORM: Used for database interactions with the
student_we
model.
Feel free to clone this repository and modify the controller as needed to fit your application’s requirements.
Laravel is a web application framework with expressive, elegant syntax. We believe development must be an enjoyable and creative experience to be truly fulfilling. Laravel takes the pain out of development by easing common tasks used in many web projects, such as:
- Simple, fast routing engine.
- Powerful dependency injection container.
- Multiple back-ends for session and cache storage.
- Expressive, intuitive database ORM.
- Database agnostic schema migrations.
- Robust background job processing.
- Real-time event broadcasting.
Laravel is accessible, powerful, and provides tools required for large, robust applications.
Laravel has the most extensive and thorough documentation and video tutorial library of all modern web application frameworks, making it a breeze to get started with the framework.
