Troubleshooting
In case WMFPreview doesn't generate thumbnails or previews after installing, below are some troubleshooting tips.
Check that you have installed the correct version of WMFPreview. Download the latest version from the releases page. For 32-bit versions of Windows, run the setup from the x86 folder included in the downloaded ZIP file. For the 64-bit versions of Windows, run the setup from the x64 folder included in the downloaded ZIP file. You can check in the system settings which version of Windows you have. Reboot your computer after installing.
Sometimes Windows disables thumbnails for performance reasons. Make sure displaying thumbnails is enabled on your computer. Click here for details on how to check this.
If thumbnails aren't being generated or updated, clearing the Windows thumbnail cache might help. Click here for details on how to do this.
- Thumbnail previews are not generated for files on CD/DVDROM drive. Previews are however displayed in the preview pane in Windows File Explorer if you enable it. If you need thumbnail previews, a solution is to copy the files to hard disk or memory card/stick. The fact that thumbnails aren't generated and displayed for files on CD/DVDROM drive might be related to Windows settings and performance reasons. This issue is under investigation.
