This p.r. addresses issue #26

Allows multiple tests to be run from a directory.
** The api remains unchanged. The code will detect whether --tests is a directory.
Updates some error messages to include more information about the error
Updates sample directory structure to use new functionality
Updates Makefile to run the code without installing it
