For foodcoops

So you want to start a food cooperative? Or you're already part of one, but would like to have a ordering system that supports what you're doing? Foodsoft is a web-based software package offering a product catalog, ordering, accounting, and job scheduling features.

There are two ways of using foodsoft:

• hosted - some of us would be happy to host a foodsoft environment for you, in Germany and The Netherlands. This option requires no technical knowledge, and can give you access to a shared database of suppliers and products.
• run your own - you can run your own copy of foodsoft. This requires some technical knowledge on running and maintaining a virtual machine and/or a Ruby on Rails website. This option gives more flexibility, as you can make your own changes to the code. See also Deployment notes.
