Tagging

Rules and logic

Tags are currently used on reviews, articles, interviews, listening parties, and Funnyfarm entries. They are fully lowercase and punctuation-free (the only exception currently being contemporary r&b). Tags for abbreviations do not include spaces.

For example:

  • The tag for Dr. Dre is dr dre
  • The tag for Godspeed You! Black Emperor is godspeed you black emperor
  • The tag for N.W.A. is nwa

Tags mainly concern artists, genres, and album descriptors. They allow us to identify relationships between different content.

We only tag artists who have been reviewed or written about in articles. For example, although The Velvet Underground has been mentioned here and there, we are yet to review one of their albums or write an article featuring them. Therefore they are not tagged even when mentioned. If and when we review a Velvet Underground album they would be added as an artist tag.

The raw listing of tags can be viewed at https://audioxide.com/api/tags.json.
