Edge says: Install Pop Pixie.exe was blocked as unsafe by Microsoft Defender SmartScreen

When you download Pop Pixie with Edge, Windows Defender may incorrectly flag Pop Pixie as a virus and prevent Edge from downloading it. To fix this, follow these instructions.

1. Tell Edge to keep Pop Pixie

Click the downloads icon and hover your mouse over the failed download. Click the icon with three dots and click Keep.

Select Keep

2. Tell Edge to keep Pop Pixie (again!)

If Edge shows a message saying "This app is unsafe", click Show more and click Keep anyway.

Edge says: This app is unsafe Click Keep anyway

3. Tell Windows to mind its own business

If Edge still won't let you download Pop Pixie, you may need to temporarily disable Windows Defender.

Edge says: Couldn't download - Virus detected

4. Try to download Pop Pixie again

You may need to download Pop Pixie again before it will appear in your Downloads folder. Download Pop Pixie again and try to open it.

At this point, Windows may tell you that Pop Pixie is a malicious file. If this happens, follow these instructions to run Pop Pixie anyway.

5. Re-enable Windows Defender

If you disabled Windows Defender in Step 3, make sure you re-enable it. Or don't; you're choice.
