Pure Lua Scrypt KDF
Scrypt is a KDF (Key Derivation Function) designed for password storage by Colin Percival to be resistant against hardware-assisted attackers by having a tunable memory cost. It is described in RFC 7914.
This module was inspired by https://github.com/cryptocoinjs/scryptsy
A collection of cryptographic primitives and protocols written in pure Lua. This was written to provide cross-platform, tested reference implementations of many different cryptographic primitives. These are written to be easy to read and easy to use, not for performance!
Install via Luarocks:
luarocks install lockbox
Or download and extract it.
local scrypt = require("scrypt")
local result = scrypt(
"", -- Password
"", -- Salt
16, -- Cpu cost (N)
1, -- Memory cost (r)
1, -- Parallelization cost (p)
64 -- dkLen
)
print(result:lower()) --> 77d6576238657b203b19ca42c18a0497f16b4844e3074ae8dfdffa3fede21442fcd0069ded0948f8326a753a0fc81f17e8d3e0fb2e0d3628cf35e20c38d18906
- Add tests
- Add (if available) Luajit FFI to avoid memory dump (check out the LuaJIT-FFI-types branch; slower)
