We use the fcm_git_path app from the GOSI9 suites to extract code from a git repository.
The app puts the code in a local path that the fcm_make app can then use as a source.

This is an interim solution that doesn't require changing the UM code extract and build. Eventually FCM will be replaced by FAB, which supports git.
