A simple Minecraft data pack to bring back sword blocking in modern versions of Minecraft.
Warning
This pack is based on features introduced in Minecraft Java Snapshot 25w04a. These features could be changed at any time during the snapshot cycle, so please be aware that the pack may break (or be abandoned entirely) in future snapshots.
- Newly-crafted swords can be used to block attacks by right-clicking with them equipped
- Swords block 50% of damage from attacks, just like in 1.8!
Note
The changes made by this pack do not currently apply to:
- Swords that were crafted prior to installation
- Swords dropped by mobs
- Swords traded from Villagers
- Swords found in loot chests
- Swords combined by crafting
- Swords taken out of the Creative inventory
- Swords given by commands
