GTM Template Variable: Query Parameter Stripping Utility

Introduction

This variable will help reduce cardinality issues with GA4 properties due high volume websites that also use query parameters.

Setup Instructions

• Select "Exclude All Parameters" to ignore all parameters exept ones provided in the whitelist field
• Select "Exclude Certain Parameters" if you want to select which parameter to exclude
• Provide the variable that will have query parameters, eg. Page URL
• Check "Force to Lowercasae" if you want to reduce cardinality
• Configure "Lower case exclusions" for allowed parameters that are case sensitive
• Reference variable in the GA4 config tag (eg. page_location), must be a valid URL
