PanelHDD

In this panel, you can add hard drives, tape drives or a CD drive to the emulated Amiga. The drives can be a Directory, a Hardfile or even a real HDD device (system permissions needed, in that case). Additionally, you can create a new Hardfile with the relevant button here.

  • Add Directory: You can use this button to select a directory on the filesystem, that will be used as a Hard drive inside the emulated Amiga.

PanelHDD-AddDir

You can provide the Device name (e.g. DH0:) the Volume Label (e.g. System), and the read/write and bootable properties for the drive here. You can also set the Boot priority (the default is 0).

PanelHDD-AddDir-SelectFolder

And of course, you will have to select the path to the directory you want to use. Please note, that once you select a directory, the folder name of that directory will automatically be used as the Volume Name for convenience (you can of course change it if you don't want that).

  • Add Hardfile: You can use this button to select a hardfile (e.g. *.hdf) to use as a hard drive inside the emulated Amiga.

PanelHDD-AddHardfile

You can select the Path to the hardfile, and set some of the properties here as well. The drive information (surfaces, sectors, etc.) will automatically be parsed from the hardfile itself, and usually don't have to be modified.

  • Add Hard Drive: You can use this button to connect a real HDD (or SDcard or similar) device to the emulated Amiga. This will allow you to connect an Amiga-formatted drive for example, or even any other drive that you can then partition and format from inside Amiberry, if you want. Please note that you will need to have read/write permissions to the device you select here, in order for Amiberry to be able to use it properly.

The controller, unit and type dropdowns, allow you to select the (emulated) device the hard drive will be connected to, inside the emulated environment. One built-in device is provided (uaehf.device), along with the available emulated devices (IDE and SCSI, depending on what hardware you've chosen to emulate).

  • Add Tape Drive: You can use this button to attach a virtual Tape Drive to the Amiga you're emulating. The tape drive can be either a directory or an image file.

PanelHDD-AddTapeDrive

  • Create HardFile: You can use this button to create a new Hardfile, which you can then attach to the emulated Amiga and use it as a hard drive device.

PanelHDD-CreateHardfile

You can set a few options here, like the Device name, the boot priority, the size of the hardfile, and if it will be a Dynamic VHD one. A Dynamic hardfile can grow in size dynamically, instead of having a hard-coded size defined on creation.

You can enable the CDFS automount CD/DVD drives option to automatically mount CD/DVD drives on Workbench, when a CD/DVD is inserted.

Use CD drive/image to connect a CD drive. You can select an iso/cue file to or use the Eject button to remove the CD from the drive. Additionally, you can use End + F5 inside emulation to open a dialog to select a CD image to insert in the drive.

You can enable the CDTV/CDTV-CR/CD32 turbo CD read speed option to speed up the CD read speed.
