Sound Alerts pause the playing music/podcast

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play music on the iPod
2. Start ichabber, turning on Sound Alerts
3. Send/receive a message

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected that the volume of the music playing would be lowered while an
alert is played, and the music volume ramped up to normal again. Similar to
what happens when Mail receives a new email.

Instead the music is paused, a while goes by, then the alert plays, and
afterwards the music is still on pause.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

r38 on an iPod touch v1.1.1.
