Currently gifs do not work since their previews are pngs. Their length is listed correctly in the info tab. I cannot find a way to play them.

Currently animated gifs are not supported and are converted to jpg in previews.

I am a bit concerned about animated gifs because they are usually smaller than the desktop monitor. And the initial assumption for HomeGallery was to provide a web gallery for pictures from cameras and mobile phones which are larger still image.

What would your expectations with animated gifs? Especially when they are smaller than the desktop monitor?

A quick and dirty solution would be to identify an animated gif as a video input and convert them to a mp4 preview video file.
