Where is 'This document cannot be displayed' error message coming from

Hi! I recently upgraded react-pdf from 5.7.2 to 6.0.3 for my organization. After doing so, on some user's browsers, we get a quick flash of this error message 'This document cannot be displayed' on the page, rendered within a div with the classname="react-pdf__message react-pdf__message--error", before the page then correctly loads the document.
I was wondering if anyone knows if this is some kind of default error message or rendered PDF coming from the react-pdf codebase? I was unable to find any error message that we were providing, or anything in the react-pdf codebase containing that text. In addition, no errors are being thrown in the console or server.
