YTAF information

  • YTAF version: 0.3.6

TV information

  • webOS version: 6.2.0-35
  • Firmware version: 03.21.20
  • OTAID: HE_DTV_W210_AFABATAA
  • SoC: o20n
  • Model: OLED77C19LA

Issue description

After about 15 to 20 seconds into playing a video, the video stops and a black screen including a QR code pops up.
It says "Something went wrong. Try again or scan the QR code for more info".

The QR links to the following site: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3037019

It started happening just today (13.02.2025) - worked flawlessly every day before for years. I have not changed anything on my TV including root / homebrew settings. I also tried disabling all the YTAF settings like ad blocking but the error still pops up after like 15-20 seconds into the video.

I've tried reinstalling the app multiple times via homebrew channel and webOS Dev Manager - no result.

I'm not signed in.

I am also experiencing the same issue today 13/2/2025. No issues yesterday.

LG C1 TV

I have updated to version 0.3.6 and this made no difference.

I pressed the green button on my remote and unticked all unblocking.

This made no difference

The issue did not occur during any adverts (1min long)

The issue appeared to be random, but it occurs around 26 or 28 seconds in to a video

And the same for a live stream.

(Untested) but the error might occur around similar timestamps through out a video

Changing location to south korea had no affect (or did changing resolution,or turning screen off only)

I am signed in to youtube

Edit
Just want to point out that on a few random videos the issue does not appear, i didnt really investigate if these are low viewed videos, as I was trying random things (update: just seems random)

Also youtube via the web app is fine.

Got the same behaivor, starting around 12/2/2025 UTC+2.
I'm also updated app to version to 0.3.6 but it not helped.

Same issue here with both YTAF v0.3.5 and 0.3.6 on 2 different TVs. I uninstalled YTAF on the OLED65B7 and installed the official Youtube app. I was able to play videos on the official app without issue.

Device: OLED77C1AUB
Firmware: 03.41.05
WebOS: 6.4.0
YTAF: 0.3.5 and 0.3.6

Device: OLED65B7P-U
Firmware: 06.10.45
WebOS: 3.9.0
YTAF: 0.3.5 (uninstalled now)

UPDATE: And now the issue no longer appears in YTAF (0.3.6 on my OLED77C1). I'm able to play videos and skip forward into videos without issue. Problem on the youtube side I'm guessing?

UPDATE2: The issue has returned. It worked for hours for me last night. This morning I watched a 13+ minute video with no issue then on the very next video, the problem started happening again. I quickly uninstalled YTAF and installed the official YouTube app and it played videos just fine. I reinstalled YTAF and the problem persists. Bizarre.

Same issue here as well, started to appear around the same time it did for everyone else.

Firmware: 03.40.70
Adfree YouTube version: 0.3.6
Device: LG OLED48A13LA

I've tried reinstalling the app and fiddling with the internet settings but nothing seemed to fix it. Other apps work fine, it's just Adfree YouTube that's giving this error. Sometimes it manages to no break for a longer periods of time but it always comes back.

I even tried uninstalling the Adfree YouTube and installing the regular one to see if the error occurs there as well and, strangely enough, it does. The error appears even in the official YouTube app, so it might not be related to the Adfree YouTube but with the YouTube in general. Not sure what to do about that?

In case you need any additional info, let me know.

I'm having this issue since about a week ago. I tried to completely reinstall youtube addfree. No result. I uninstalled it and installed the official youtube app from the WebOS store. The issue kept popping up. It's very frustrating indeed. I watch youtube a lot and sponsorblock feature is very convenient.

Same issue here i don't know if it related only to the c1 the only way for me to get the app to work properly is to routes my connection and use a vpn to a country that doesn't have monetization and advertising then it works okay no issues so i think this error comes up properly when it's trying to play an ad or something then it fails to skip and we get this error instead

I guess the issue is not a particular country, since if it were the original youtube app would have been working fine. But it's not.

Edit: When I log out, I'm not encountering this issue at all.

I'll test these out tomorrow (the TV in question is at my girlfriend's place) and report back, but I believe the result won't be any different.

As I've previously mentioned, I've tried reinstalling the Adfree YouTube app, reinstalling the official app, playing while logged in and while logged out and the error would always pop up after 15-30 sec or if the video tries to skip a sponsored content.

As a workaround, I've noticed that it takes a 3-8 retries before the video stops throwing an error. Sadly, as soon as I exit the video and try another one, I have to do the same thing again. However, sometimes I'm lucky and it works without issue as long as I do not exit the video.

Unrelated or not, I've noticed that something similar was happening on SmartTube app on one of my Android TVs. It was getting error 403 and the app was applying the fix in the real time and, after a couple of tries, the video would resume as it normally did in the past.

EDIT: Checked the videos above and, sadly, the issue persists.

It’s working for me again. It might have been an issue on YouTube’s side.

Issue had resolved but it has come back again

sometimes I'm lucky and it works without issue as long as I do not exit the video

Same for me, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. My hunch is that they're running a session-based A/B test of some change that breaks the stream in the app. No idea how to confirm this though

Hey guys, it works every time after i clean the RAM. Start the Video and clean RAM before the error appears. But i had to do this for almost every video today. So Pick up long videos.

Update: activating IPv6 in Network settings immediatly stops the Bug from occuring!

Under Settings>General>Oled Care>Device self-care>memory optimizer.

I have noticed now that not all the videos works when using this method. But some of them do. Crazy.

I've tried activating the IPv6 in Network options and the issue still persists, even with the option turned off. Optimizing the memory, unfortunately, did nothing as well. For IPv6 stuff, do I need to do something on my router as well?

@studiogetz

Seems ok now. Seems the issue has resolved on its own, unless the adfree dev didn't intervene. I didn't do any updates though, so it must have been a google/yt issue, as usual.
Also the black screen when time seeking seems to have been resolved aswell.
I will wait a few days to see if it stays fixed.
None of the above "fixes" worked for me all this time.
How is it on your tvs?

Try to reinstall the whole webos dev manager and try different account. If it will not help and if you have the option to connect to vpn, this might help:
