The cloud fonts used for PDF output are installed to ensure compatibility with as many environments as possible. The following font sets are installed:
1 supports over 1,000 languages and more than 150 writing systems, with multiple weights and widths, and styles such as Gothic, Ming, and Monospaced. 2 is a standard font pack for the web provided by Microsoft.

font-family: "IPA明朝", serif;is specified in the theme (stylesheet), IPA明朝 is not in the previous list or the table above, so the browser's "Serif" font (Ming style in Japanese environments) should be used for PDF output. However, Noto Sans CJK JP will actually be used. - This issue occurs with all Ming style fonts except those substituted with

Paid web font services restrict usage according to their terms of service, and cannot be used unconditionally with Vivliostyle Pub.
The interpretation of terms of service should be resolved between the contracting parties, and we, as a third party, cannot make judgments. However, users may not be able to use web fonts with Vivliostyle Pub with peace of mind. Therefore, we have communicated with each company to investigate whether the following uses are permitted by their terms of service.
- Preview using web fonts
- PDF output and offset/on-demand printing using web fonts
- Paid sales of products using web fonts
Based on the results, we have selected the recommended uses for each web font service as follows.

The following are the Japanese fonts included in Google Fonts that, according to our tests, were embedded as "TrueType (CID)" rather than "Type 3" in PDF output by Vivliostyle. As a result, they are all Japanese fonts except for Noto Sans Japanese and Noto Serif Japanese.
Generally, PDF files with fonts embedded as "Type 3" are considered unsuitable for printing. On the other hand, if they are embedded as "TrueType (CID)", there should be no problem. For more details, please refer to the following.
