Getting 'Invalid host defined options' while starting the extension.

I have latest sf cli installed on my system and I've tried reinstalling the extension but nothing seems to be working.

I had the same error, in my case I needed downgrade to version 2.0.11

Try uninstalling extension, then delete the extension cache by following these steps: Close Visual Studio Code. Navigate to the Extensions folder in VSCode. It’s usually located here: Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.vscode\extensions macOS/Linux: ~/.vscode/extensions Look for the folder corresponding to the VignaeshRamA.sfdx-package-xml-generator extension and delete it.
