I'm using the ima plugin, but it would be nice to move away from it (or ugly VAST) for a simple implementation of the following:

  • ability to define a preroll/postroll
  • ability to define point/s in time, and interrupt with ad
  • ability to define whether ad playing is skippable/unskippable/needs minimum watching time

This has several great benefits:

  • reduced reliance on overengineered Google framework for simple use cases
  • doesn't get picked up by content blockers so easily
  • gives control of advertising federation to the developer so they aren't reliant on Google's publicly hosted implementation (which may download multiple JS files in an undefined way to work properly)
