Can't get the extension to work / show swatches

Hi,
Installed your extension under 1.8.1 but it does not work at all :(
The drop-downs which are supposed to get replaced with the swatches remain as drop-downs, so I see no effect of this extension.
It all works in backend (like I can access and apparently do all those settings in the configuration) but the effect in frontend is null, no matter if I choose "custom images", "labels" or whatever.
Seems like the whole extension is completely ignored in the frontend.
Can you give me a hint about what to change and where !??!
I am a relative "newbie" to magento, so please try to explain as for newbies :)

@sallygny I cannot reproduce you issue. Maybe it has something to do with the theme you are using. Try using the default theme and see if it works.

Hello, I know the problem you speak of. This happens to me when I have Merge Javascript enabled. Is there a fix for that?
