There are a couple of approaches when it comes to this:

  1. Make it an "Editor" plugin. I believe the only options here are GDScript. And this will require zipping the redbean executable(not easily done in GDScript at the moment).
  2. Make it a native module. This should be mostly straightforward. But it might be tricky for others to use in Godot3. Godot4 might allow to load native modules on the fly. Then it might be viable to go this route.
