- Dictionary tables can be parsed as Record streams mostly without problems (see: printable ASCII as Record Type)
- Fixing this last minute was easy at Kaitai level but opened up a can of brain-eating spaceworms during serialization, because
- size parameters must be manually adjusted to preserve internal consistency, and
- apparently it's not trivial in Python to update objects in place
- as a result cascading errors occurred because of length mismatches that was traced back to a single function that tried to update a size field in-place instead of creating and returning a new instance
