How to get total number of results of all engines to integrate pagination

I am basically making a postman GET request EG : http://localhost:8080/search?q=paris&categories=general&format=json
I am getting number_of_results:0 even though the results are present. For now i have enabled only brave and duckduckgo.
Can someone please suggest how do i implement pagination as i am getting number_of_results as 0 but i want it to be implemented in my application where i will be calling " http://localhost:8080/search?q=paris&categories=general&format=json"

You generally can't. Because some engine do give the number of results but some do not.
