Feature: Create Landscape Scans from Portrait Scans

I have a scanner that can scan A4 paper in portrait, but not in landscape.
And since I can scan a piece of A4 paper in its entirety, there should be no reason why it couldn't be made
to be landscape in software.

I am willing to implement this feature myself and I do have a few ideas, already.

However, I have also noticed that this project has not been maintained in (almost) a year.
And a few PRs have piled up.
I wouldn't want to put effort into this if I didn't know that it will streamlined;
nor do I want to fork this repo and take over maintainance.
(but if someone else wants to, I would be happy to contribute to that)

So wha's the status on this project?
