t-rec depends on x11rb which obviously requires X.
One workaround is to use Xwayland

Contribution for wayland support would be very much appreciated. Please reach out for guidance. 🙏

It’s really pity that t-rec doesn’t support modern desktops (Wayland). :(

@jirutka feel free to contribute an implementation.

In fact it's very simple: only an impl for PlatformApi needs to be added into its own file.

Good input was provided here: #211 (comment)

So the essence is that most tools use dbus to talk to the wayland compositor and have screenshots of the windows then provided.
