I think it would be great to be able to integrate this with OpenStack.

PRs welcome. :)

I was looking for some kubernetes configs / helm charts, surprised that I can't find any mention of it.

Blackrock may actually predate Helm... But it currently solely runs on GCE, where Oasis was hosted.

It's also not really supported or worked on, you may want to consider a beefy Sandstorm VM instead.

@xavier83, afaik blackrock has never been really been used outside of Sandstorm Inc's running of Oasis; it wasn't open-sourced until the business side of things was mostly shutting down, and nobody's really done any work on it since, except some basic maintenance work by @kentonv to keep Oasis running a little longer. So it is still very much tied to the infra that Oasis used to run on, and now that Oasis is shut down I doubt blackrock will see any new development unless someone interested steps up -- most of us in the community are running smaller setups for which vanilla sandstorm is more appropriate, and don't consider blackrock a priority. If @kentonv is still willing to review PRs then it could probably be revived if someone wanted to put in the work, but I think right now unless you or someone you know is interested in getting your hands dirty you should probably consider blackrock unmaintained. Additionally, while I don't think we've done anything in sandstorm core that should break blackrock, we're not testing with it so it's possible you might hit some bitrot.

I landed here from https://sandstorm.io/business looking for how sandstorm scales. If sandstorm itself provides helm chart or equivalent it would be great! but even there there is no mention of it though 😛

@xavier83 That page unfortunately has a lot of things that didn't happen, and was definitely written when Blackrock was a priority for the Sandstorm team (and when there was a Sandstorm team...), but Sandstorm tends to scale pretty well on a single instance machine. Since the only running grains are grains that are actively open in someone's browser, most apps and users have no performance impact on the server at any given time.

AFAIK, at this juncture, nobody has actually run a Sandstorm server with enough activity to actually require Blackrock.

@ocdtrekkie, maybe we should remove the references to blackrock from that page? It seems a bit misleading re: the state of the project, but everything else seems to still fit.

@zenhack I think that'd be prudent.

Blackrock isn't really maintained, so this is a little misleading.
