IP Filtering

Hi, I'm trying to understand from the documentation what formats qBittorrent accepts for IP filtering lists, but I cannot find any reference here about what kind of file is accepted.

With Transmission, I used this list:

As you can see, it's a .gz file, and Trasmission was fine with it, does qbittorrent require an URL which is not gzip compressed?

The file types that qBittorent accepts are .dat, .p2p, or .p2b. NO

I tried to load bt_blocklists.gz but since it didn't have the right extension, it returned an error. When I downloaded the file, I couldn't even select that file (on OSX).

I downloaded the .gz file, unzipped it, and renamed the file to bt_blocklists.dat. When I loaded it, there were 11 rules applied - obviously wrong. I looked at the file I use and I didn't see any differences in the format.

I have some utility in Windows that downloads an update filtering list file weekly and because I had some bizarre problems with a slough of copyright infringement notices over Christmas, I often manually load the file when I start qB so I can get that confirmation of the number of rules applied. Because you wouldn't otherwise know if the file failed to load at all, and if it loads if it loads 11 rules or 52,345 rules. (Big difference, LOL.)

Basically I think the issue is that Transmission wants the downloaded file to end in .gz, and nobody is hosting their blocklist file directly with one of the 3 extensions (dat, p2p, p2b) that qBittorent is looking for.

If you google for the list or its publisher you'll come up with a ton of posts presuming the blocklist is dead, but it is not.

Thanks for replying, so the correct way is not to load a .P2P though the interface, but somehow manually?

Where and how do you check if your rules are applied successfully and how do you do that?

Since qBittorrent has issues with the .dat files too (not to mention everybody hosts a .gz file and qBittorrent should add support for it) - now the point is, as importing the dat is broken, should we open an issue to implement what transmission already does flawlessly when pasting though the web interface the link I mentioned above?

Hello, I know this topic is old but I was looking for blocklist management information and saw it.
On my side I use it fine, what I did was getting a blocklist (on this website : https://www.emule-security.org/ - blocklist link : http://upd.emule-security.org/ipfilter.zip). So I get a .zip file, inside is a .p2p file. I just change the .p2p extenstion to .dat and QBit can import it without any issue apparently.

My 2 cents for a quite complete block list working as-is: https://github.com/waelisa/Best-blocklist. I extract the file, and qBittorrent will take it without any issue.
