Exact definition of ratio

Not sure if this is a bug,
I have a torrent which I once removed and then manually added again with existing files, which were probably partially corrupted. The torrent thus has 463.2 MB of wanted size, 8 MiB downloaded, 3.89 GiB uploaded and an astonishing ratio of 498.45.
Is this the intended behavior? What is the exact definition of ratio? The above one does not make much sense for tracking seeding debt.

Ratio is calculated as follows: amount_uploaded / amount_downloaded - a simple division. The numbers you provide work out just fine: 3.89 GiB / 8 MiB ≈ 498 (it's not exactly equal because these are not exact quantities in bytes).

Yeah, I know; sorry for using imprecise language, this is not about "what is", but is more about "what should be". The point is, this definition does not make much sense, and amount_uploaded / locally_available_data_size, in a program, is much better for the purposes of what ratio is usually about.

Edit: Sorry, I glitched out. This comment stated earlier amount_uploaded / max(wanted_size, known_amount_downloaded).

Not sure what you mean by this.

"what should be"

It should be amount_uploaded / amount_downloaded. The purpose of ratio is precisely to track how much you upload to other peers vs how much you download from them, regardless of the total size of the torrent. In fact, "ratio" in this context is effectively shorthand for "share ratio".
