If I'm not mistaken, betas generated from 2100 are no longer compatible with previous configurations
That is, if you are going to start any recent Beta, delete the previously saved settings.

@mystyq I'm pretty sure this incompatibility wasn't anticipated, so there wasn't any kind of warning.

You cleared the settings from previous betas before starting the new version, right?

Have you tested it on other versions, such as Beta 2049

hi, it's a freshly formatted card, no history of previous configs

oi, é um cartão recém-formatado, sem histórico de configurações anteriores

Have you tested version 2049?

Hi,

I've recently just picked up an mx4sio in the last day and moved from 1.1.0 to the 1.2.0 betas for exfat support and have encounted the exact same issue where OPL starting for first time with NO config files freezes with black screen.

My PS2 Config is as follows
Model: 70002 - PAL AU
FMCB: 1.966
OPL Issue my first encounter on: 1.2.0 Build 2199, build 2197 is also affected.
Last OPL Build that is functional: 1.2.0 Build 2194

During testing of beta builds. I am fully deleting all config files between builds

This solution gets this version(Link below) to boot, but has issues displaying games without using hdl batch or winhip which from what I understand is no longer necessary for v 1.2. Not too sure about that. Also has a setting save issue.

https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases/download/latest/OPNPS2LD-v1.2.0-Beta-2199-200eaa7.7z

I may have the solution if you're still looking for one. I was struggling to update the opl version from just 1.0 to 1.1 for bout 3 days lol. Finally, today I was able to launch 1.1 so i decided to try 1.2. it worked. However, after moving it from MC0 to mass, it stopped working (black screen). Even after putting it back in MC0. Took me about an hour to figure out how to get it working again. Essentially the same problem as you converting 1.1 to 1.2, getting black screen.

Solution to my situation:

  1. Fresh install of OPL 1.1 and 1.2 on a USB.
  2. Delete any opl cfg files (Can be in MC0 or mass. When configuring v 1.2 for first time it defaulted to mass, so check both)
  3. Plug in usb, open ulaunch and navigate to where you have v 1.1 opl.
  4. Select Copy. IMPORTANT: WHEN NAVIGATING DON'T PRESS TRIANGLE AT ANY POINT!!! After selecting copy, scroll up to the ../ and press circle(unless you changed your select button, then whatever that is) Continue pressing the ../ until you get to main directory with MC0.
  5. Scroll to MC0 and open it
  6. Open Apps and Paste 0pl v 1.1 with ../ highlighted
  7. It will boot v 1.1, set up your settings. If you're using hard drive set that start mode to Auto and Default menu to HDD.
  8. Scroll down, press ok
  9. Select save changes.
  10. select exit. It will bring you to the browser.
  11. repeat steps 3-10 for v 1.2 KEEP CFG FILES!!!
  12. set v 1.2 settings to your liking save them. Making sure to scroll press ok then select save. It will freeze on you. Give it 2 mins(for superstition lol) Then power off PS2 completely and turn it back on.

You can now go back and delete v 1.1 or any other versions of opl from your mem card if you would like. Keep CFG files. Unless you really want to mess around and figure out how to put opl on mass or hdd, I would advise keeping it on your mem card. I would dive into it more and see what's possible, but this has given me such a headache. Just glad it works. Let me know if this helped you! :)

@Leerz

Many problems are happening with the latest betas (2197 and 2199), so for that reason stay on 2194 beta

Works

btw, just a little context, using a knockoff non genuine ps2 16mb MC, not sure if that matters.

just found a quirk, i enabled bdm, saved config.
it loaded the 500gb drive, showed the games (it's a test drive with 2 titles)
turned off, inserted my other hdd 1tb no titles
i had to disable and enable bdm again

@iGom And @Leerz
Run number 2071 works well

The crash in previous runs occurred when "Applications Start Mode" was enabled
