Expected release date for stable Positron version? #6144

Is there an expected release date for a non-beta version of Positron? I ask because, although Positron looks amazing, I prefer to have students in my classes use stable versions for their IDE, which is now RStudio. |

Thank you so much for your interest in using Positron in an educational context! I agree wholeheartedly that students do not deserve to be subjected to software in beta 😅 and am glad you are planning to wait until we do a general release. We don't have a firm release date, but it would be reasonable to pencil in plans to use Positron in these kinds of situations by the fall of this year. I'd suggest you check back in when you are preparing for the fall semester to see if you are comfortable with making the switch. FWIW RStudio will continue to be maintained and updated and we hope you do not feel any pressure to switch away from it for teaching before it's appropriate. |
