  The FIFO buffer can easily lowered to around 32.

  Can you change these pins to the pilight defaults of 18 and 19?

  I think you can just remove these parameters and leave the debug as the only one.

  Better rename this to starting gpio-in request. Counts for the subsequent messages as wel, and also for the gpio-out.
