Latency keeps increasing after upgrading to V6 #2282

Versions

  • Core version is v6.0.4 (Latest: v6.0.4)
  • Web version is v6.0.1 (Latest: v6.0.1)
  • FTL version is v6.0.2 (Latest: v6.0.2)

Platform

OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) aarch64
Host: Raspberry Pi 5 Model B Rev 1.0

Expected behavior

Latency to stay even.

Actual behavior / bug

After upgrading to V6, the latency keeps increasing.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Running Pi-Hole
  2. Keep using it
  3. Observe latency increase

Can you please elaborate on what this latency is? DNS resolution time? Ping to somewhere? Some disk access time? Something else?

Prometeus logging: unbound_recursion_time_avg_seconds

This might be an Unbound / Cache issue.
Running everything on a R-Pi 5 with nvme ssd.

Close the issue if you see fit.

I am still not entirely sure what we are talking about? So this latency is actually an unbound metric? If so, how is your Pi-hole involved (else than simply being installed on the same machine)?

Figured it out... It's unbound resolve time. But, new app on phone with BOGUS replies that take up to 25 seconds, skewing results...
