I believe this alert is from macoS Gatekeeper. The most recent versions of macOS have become more strict about enforcing this by default. AFAIK the only ways to remove this error are to either for the user to allow-list the program explicitly, or for you to get a Developer ID and sign the binaries during the release build. (That is, I think, kind of a pain in the rump, and probably not really worth it given how straightforward it is for someone to clone the repo and build their own version—with a GUI app that would be much more of a burden).
