Desktop app zoom inconsistencies with selected points

As mentioned in #313, the desktop app defaults to a worldwide zoom.

If the user then zooms in on the points manually and then clicks on the aggregated point marker, the zoom will not actually zoom in on the points but instead to nearby. So if I zoom in 4-5 levels onto Kathmandu and then click on my points, I get shunted to the Bay of Bengal or Tibet.
