Performance comparisons / improvements

One of the main concerns I hear when proposing Poetry in an enterprise setting is performance.
Recently, pdm added benchmarks which seem to show that pdm is significantly more performant than poetry. It might be interesting to look at what they are doing to achieve this performance, especially w.r.t caching, to see if there are any ideas that can be shared to improve Poetry's performance. Adding similar benchmarks to Poetry's repo might also be interesting to track the impact of new features or changes on performance.
