Delete HLS files some time after stream ends

I have "deleteHLSFilesOnEnded": false in my settings since I'm assuming that setting it to true would delete the HLS files as soon as the stream ends, which is not what I want (if someone joins the stream 15 minutes late and rewinds to the beginning of the stream, the HLS files need to still be there when that user reaches the end of the stream, 15 minutes after we've stopped streaming). However, I also don't want the HLS files to stay forever, since that will eventually fill up all the storage space on the servers with old files that we no longer need.

• Is there any way (other than setting up a cronjob on every server in the cluster) to automatically delete the HLS files some time after the stream ends (for instance an hour later or a day later)?
• Does deleting a stream also delete the HLS files from that stream?

After testing and looking into the code, it looks like deleteHLSFilesOnEnded does what I want. If I'm reading the code (specifically this line) correctly, after the end of the time, it waits (hlsListSize * hlsTime) seconds, then deletes the HLS files.
Also, deleting a stream does not delete the HLS files for the stream.

You are right.

Even if the deleteHLSFilesOnEnded is true, it will take (hlsListSize * hlsTime) seconds to delete the HLS files from the server.

If someone joins the stream 15 minutes late and rewinds to the beginning of the stream, the HLS files need to still be there when that user reaches the end of the stream, 15 minutes after we've stopped streaming.

So, if you want the above scenario, set the hlsPlayListType to event in the application settings and keep deleteHLSFilesOnEnded to true. If you stream for 30 minutes, the files will be deleted 30 minutes after you stop streaming.
