Please dont change metric names by default

hi,
We are running a Azure function app -> otel collector -> prometheus setup.
After updating to version 0.85.0 most of our dashboards failed, and alerts triggered like crazy.

We were surprised then we discovered that the Otel Collector was renaming our metric names.
This was not something we had configured it to do, and it was not something we want it to do.

Names like business_process_total_count was changed to business_process_count_total.

Why does the Otel Collector have an opinion about the metric names?
Prometheus has the option to modify incomming metrics - it seems to me that is where metric modification should happen.
