Bluetooth earphone detection issues

I recently bought a new Bluetooth earphone Sound One X50. It connected to my xiaomi tab 1 running on miui7 but did not connect to my xiaomi mi4w. The earphone was not detected. Please let me know if this is a known issue and if there is any fix for it. So far o have attempted restarting the phone, clearing cache and data from the app manager in settings, clearing cache from recovery mode, finding the Bluetooth address and using a third party app BT direct that connects via the Bluetooth address, using third party apps to create Bluetooth connections.
