well, the whole point of this plugin is to stop begging for configuration of gateway in slack (which is a pain, and I had some slack admins who don't know crap about network protocols raise an eyebrow at me when I asked to enable XMPP/IRC gateways). Also, it might offer a room for enabling stuff like threads handling (by matching https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0201.html) or post edition (though there's no XEP for that).
