How to reproduce (I was testing with a Pi 4)

  • make sure WiFi is disabled, not configured or not available
  • unplug the Ethernet cable
  • boot the device

-> balenaCloud will list your device as "offline with heartbeat" or something like that

  • now connect the Ethernet cable
  • wait a minute or two

-> balenaCloud will eventually list your device as online at some point
-> the gateway service ("main") is also listed as "Running"

YET, the gateway is not really operational. The TTN console lists it as disconnected.

To recover you need to manually restart the gateway service through the balenaCloud dashboard. It have not tested but I suspect the exact same thing will happen if the device looses internet connection temporarily while being up.

@marcelstoer can you please restart the basicstation service from balenaCloud dashboard and see what happens?

I did, please see the last two sentences in the description. Or did I misunderstand your Q?
