I started learning Modelica in 2001 with the Modelica 1.4 tutorial. I still think that was very good. I would suggest that we update it to Modelica 3.6 and post it on our website.
In fact, most of the later additions to the language were advanced features. The only basic thing missing is initial equations, those should be discussed.
I took a look at the Modelica 1.4 tutorial and distant memories popped up. I was using it too when I learned it. Most of the content is still valuable and an update to 3.6 should do the job.
However this is more a language guide. I would also rename it: Modelica Language Guide. One can put it next to Modelica by Example from Mike. So this is content at the level of " Yes, I want to learn this". What we are primarily missing is instructive material for "Get to know" or "First contact".
The Modelica language now refers to the tutorials, but I think we need to have:
