PowerToysReport_2024-12-26-09-54-13.zip

✔️ Expected Behavior

The PowerToys Run window should replace the Windows default Run window.

❌ Actual Behavior

The PowerToys Run window does not show and falls back to the Windows default Run window.

After upgrading from 0.86 to 0.87.1 it stopped working.
Running as admin, restarting the program, re-enabling the PowerToys Run, rebooting the system, or re-installing the program do not resolve the issue.

There is nor error information in your log files. Does the issue still exists?

Yes, the issue is still there.
Here is a recording of the PowerToys Run that is not working with Win+R hotkey.

The issue does not appear on all systems. I have another computer with the same version (0.87.1) of PowerToys and the same config, while PowerToys Run works well.

Commenting to confirm that I'm experiencing the same behavior that moporgic.

I suspect this is not related to the shortcut you've shown. I suspect PowerLauncher is just crashing at startup, since the logs are basically 2 lines per run, but without any decent error message to help us 🤔

Could you please send a dump file?

One way of achieving this would be by creating an entry in the Registry Editor (regedit.msc), for Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\PowerToys.PowerLauncher.exe , according to the instructions in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wer/collecting-user-mode-dumps

It should look something like this in the end (but for PowerLauncher):
image

After that, please replicate the bug, navigate to $LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps in the File Explorer and upload the zipped PowerToys.PowerLauncher.exe.*.dmp file to a GitHub comment.

The idea is that this could show us the stack trace and help pinpoint what the issue might be.

Jaimecbernardo,

I'm not the original poster but I can supply some of my dump files. I ran through your instructions today to grab the latest dump and noticed that 9 other dump files already existed in that folder, but GitHub only allowed me to upload a zip with two dump files. Please let me know if anymore are required.
