<h3>Who Does God Speak To?</h3>
<blockquote> “Mankind! We created you from a male and female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you might come to know each other. The noblest among you in Allah’s sight is the one with the most taqwa. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (49:13)

<p class="arabic">إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَأُنْثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا ۚ إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ </p>

<dt>Main Points</dt>
<dd>Focus on “O mankind”.</dd>
<dd class="indent">— Mutual understanding.</dd>
<dd>The Qur’an’s audience is universal, without limitation on gender, culture, or religious.</dd>
<dd class="indent">— Putting the "you" in universal.</dd>
<dd>The Qur’an addresses general groups of people in various passages.</dd>
<dd class="indent">— Learn to see yourself in those groups as there's a lesson in there for us.</dd>
<dd>Two of those categories include all of humanity and believers.</dd>
<dd class="indent">— "Believers" are a subset of humanity.</dd>
<dd>These verses usually carry universal teachings, warnings, and glad tidings.</dd>
<dd class="indent">— Iman and kufr must come together in the same space.</dd>
<dd>Such passages usually begin with "O mankind" or "O Children of Adam."</dd>

<p class="arabic">لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ</p>
<p class="arabic">وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ</p>
<p class="arabic">وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ</p>
<p class="arabic"> فَمَا اسْتَقَامُوا لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيمُوا لَهُمْ</p>
