Hi,
I am using Pamac with Arch & Cinnamon. After updating pamac & libpamac & pamac-cli to the latest version a few days ago, the GUi has been extremely slow. It takes forever after I open the update panel for the updates to show. When there are AUR updates, it takes a couple of minutes more during updating of AUR for the update window to show and for them to start.

This issue is not present when pamac is run through the cli. I am thinking it's possibly because I have a number of -git packages; however, i have the same # of git packages I did before the upgrade, and it worked just fine before.

There was a change on how AUR packages get handled and where the AUR database packages-meta-ext-v1.json.gz gets stored. A database refresh call would most likely fix that: pamac upgrade --aur --force-refresh --dry-run See also: manjaro/pamac-cli#1 (comment)

It still seems very slow. However, let me try it for a few days and get back to you.

well, it's definitely still freezing for a long time on the AUR update sometimes...and the program also seems to freeze up completely if I try to uncheck one of the updates.

OK, yeah, it definitely seems like there's no change at all after running that command. Still getting many times when not only do the updates take forever to load, but the program gets stuck after updating the AUR database for several minutes before beginning the upgrade, and if I uncheck any of the updates, the entire GUI freezes. Again, this is only with the GUI. the command line works fine still.

OK I can add some additional context now. When checking for development packages is disabled, pamac works fine.

The problem occurs when development packages is enabled. The following occurs when I have checking for development packages enabled: when I open the GUI when pamac tells me there's an update, it goes right to the update screen (as expected). It says it is checking for updates, but it DOES NOT have any percentage of completion as it did on the prior version. If I open preferences, it does not open while this screen is showing, and if I switch to browse to look for other packages, browse does not work. If I wait a very long time, then the GUI will catch up and start working again, but it takes a long time.

If pamac does NOT think that there's an update, then it will default (as expected) to the browse screen and work normally. If, however, I click on the updates tab, then it will do the same as described above.

One more thing - when checking for development packages is disabled in the GUI, then it does not check for development packages even when I run the command pamac update --aur --devel in the CLI. Not sure if this is related but I thought it worth mentioning.
