external plugins for desktop & panels

Hello, is there any plans for enabling lumina to have external plugins?

The Lumina project seems to be stalled at the moment and in need of new core developers.
I'm hoping to contribute more myself, but that won't happen until sometime next summer at the earliest.
In the meantime, I use Lumina on all my FreeBSD boxes and it has been solid except for a few (mostly cosmetic) issues.

I would love this, and I've wanted it myself for a long time... but with little time I've been focused on the few irons I've still got in the fire when I'm able to scrounge some time together to work on things.
