I'm only reporting this here because the upstream project seems to have disabled issue reporting (and this is an issue with the libretro core, so it makes sense; maybe if it's fixed, it can be merged upstream). Anyway, at least in Weston and Waybox, the viewport is bigger than available in my resolution (1366x768). Maybe if I had a huge screen this wouldn't be an issue. This isn't an issue in Linux KMS/DRM, but is in Wayland. Well, it's not an issue in Sway either, probably because the tiling code makes sure that an application's window never exceeds a tile's dimensions.
I was hoping the aspect-ratio fix for v115 would fix this issue, but it seems not to. Perhaps the geometry code from older bsnes ports (like mednafen-bsnes or mercury-bsnes, neither of which have this problem) could be backported.
I'm attaching a screenshot of how Super Mario Kart looks in Weston.
Compared to how it should look (a screenshot taken from within RetroArch):
